The Bruce Highway southbound from Caloundra to Burpengary was described by the Australian Traffic Network as "pretty solid", with queues stretching back about 10 kilometres.

"They're packed in pretty tight for the southbound run and crawling the whole way," ATN spokeswoman Amelia Oberhardt said.

There hadn't been a single death on the roads by Sunday afternoon and overall this year's numbers, up until midnight on Saturday, were lower than last year's.

However, police said there were no excuses for the consistent high numbers of drivers disregarding the road rules during the Easter break.

"We continue to be disappointed by the number of people who continue to speed, disregard the laws and who continue to drink-drive or drug-drive," Acting Superintendent Neal White said.

During the first three days of the Easter campaign, from Thursday to Saturday, a total of 10,901 cars were snapped speeding, which was down on the 2016 figure of 11,506.

Meanwhile, 175 drivers had been caught drink-driving compared to 230 at the same time last year and 127 people returned positive drug tests, which was less than the 139 from the previous year.

The fastest speedsters from the three days included:

• 193km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Bruce Highway at Landsborough (Sunshine Coast)
• 173km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Bruce Highway at Mons (Sunshine Coast)
• 172km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Pacific Motorway at Gaven (Gold Coast)
• 150km/h in an 80km/h zone inside the Airport Link Tunnel (North Brisbane)

The worst drink-driving cases included:

• 0.277 blood-alcohol reading from Gold Coast
• 0.273 blood-alcohol reading from Mount Isa
• 0.176 blood-alcohol reading from Rockhampton
• 0.174 blood-alcohol reading from in Cairns

Police said there hadn't been as many RBTs conducted across the state this year due to their focus on speeding, with more than 57,000 being performed last year and less than 37,000 this year.

There had also been 62 crashes on the state's roads, which police described as a high number for the Easter campaign. There were three serious incidents on Sunday, which left 13 people in hospital.

The latest crash saw the Pacific Motorway through Upper Mount Gravatt reduced to one southbound lane for more than three hours after a two-car accident about 12.20pm.

Police responded to a broken-down vehicle on the motorway and as the second police car approached the scene, it was hit from behind by another vehicle.

As a result, two officers were injured and taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, one suffering a severe cut to the head and the other with minor injuries. One of the three injured in the second car was in a serious condition and the other two had minor injuries.

ATN spokeswoman Amelia Oberhardt said the Pacific Motorway had been turned into "a car park", with delays back about five kilometres to Holland Park West at their peak.

Meanwhile, a car crashed off the Bruce Highway down an embankment at Raglan, north-west of Gladstone, about 7.20am.

The 24-year-old male driver suffered serious leg injuries and the 23-year-old female passenger received facial injuries. The pair from Narangba were taken to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.

In a separate incident, a female passenger was cut from a car after it crashed into a wall in Brisbane's south-east on Saturday night.

The two-car accident happened about 6.45pm at the intersection of Warrigal Road and Chester Road in Eight Mile Plains and the road was closed for more than four hours as a result.

Three patients, including the trapped woman were taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in stable conditions while two more people were taken QEII Jubilee Hospital with minor injuries.

Two people suffered critical injuries in previous crashes on Thursday, while a woman allegedly blew a blood-alcohol level of 0.277 after ploughing into a Gold Coast fish and chip shop.

Meanwhile, Christian worshippers turned out in droves to mark Easter Sunday in Brisbane, as religious leaders urged them to stave off fear and absorb the hopeful message of the resurrection.

Followers were forced to stand at the entrance and line the walls of St Stephen's cathedral for Sunday morning's solemn mass, as the sound of choral music echoed in the packed church.

A hoarse Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane Mark Coleridge apologised in advance for the less pleasant sound of "a few croaked hallelujahs" on his part.

"But nothing can quench the joy of this day ... Jesus Christ has risen from the dead," he told the congregation.

Meanwhile, Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane Phillip Aspinall said the hopeful message of the Easter story was a helpful antidote to fear and anxiety.

"(Easter is) about God launching a huge repair project in the world as we know it," he said.

"There's no shortage of suffering in the world. But Easter has a different message, it says that those things do not enslave us."
