The duo are enjoying stellar seasons and statistically match up in almost every department after seven games.

Speight has six tries to his name after evading 24 defenders this season, while Savea has beaten 20 defenders en route to his five scores.

The pair have represented their country in sevens and Brumbies legend Joe Roff believes Friday night's battle in Napier will prove a precursor to Bledisloe Cup action later this year.

"It's a mouth-watering match up, Savea is at the top of his game and Henry has refound the form that suggests he'll be almost impossible not to pick on the Wallabies wing this year," Roff said.

"Henry had a season a couple of years ago where he was unstoppable and I think his level of athleticism has gone up since then and there's more maturity to his game.

"He's also now a senior member of the team which means he's injecting himself more and his touches are just world-class at the moment.

"This weekend has got a Wallabies-All Blacks feeling to it, it's going to great."

Speight turned 29 last month, the same age which Roff retired from Super Rugby, but the 86-Test veteran said he believes the best is yet to come from the flying Fijian.

"He is getting better with age and he's still got the best years ahead of him, 29 is not by any stretch over the hill," Roff said.

"I started at 19 and did a 10-year window whereas he started a bit later and I think your best years are in the middle of that period which Henry is just starting to hit.

"You can see the confidence everyone draws around him and playing alongside him, I think he's a wonderful player and I've loved watching him this year."

Another key match up will see Brumbies rookie flyhalf Wharenui Hawera square off against World Rugby Player of the Year and All Blacks No.10 Beauden Barrett.

"Hawera will see it as a great opportunity, when you get to Super Rugby level and play for the Brumbies you want nothing more than to pit yourself against the best and Beauden Barrett is the best in the world at the moment," Roff said.

"This year the Brumbies have loved the opportunity of playing against the best and it's when they've played their best, which I can see happening again this weekend."

Australian is going through its leanest period in Super Rugby history against New Zealand opposition, winning just three of the past 38 clashes, but Roff believes the Brumbies can turn the tide in Napier.

"Australian teams are cleary taking the underdog status into New Zealand games and the Kiwi teams are playing at a higher level than everyone else right now, but it's up to the Brumbies to match them," Roff said.

"The talent and drive and passion is there and Stephen Larkham will get the best out of the team, if any Australian team can knock them off, it's the Brumbies."
