Mount Isa Police Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Hall said there had been a recent increase of cars being broken into within the last fortnight.
Police continued search warrants for drug trafficking, firearms offences and property crimes in April which have resulted in charges brought to the Mount Isa Magistrates Court.
But Detective Senior Sergeant Hall said police were seeking to limit the car break-ins by reminding car owners to take precautions in securing their belongings.
He also urged victims of crime to report matters to the police, and for residents to report any suspicious behaviour they might have witnesses.
Last year during the tourist season and the lead-up to Dirt N Dust and Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo season there had been a spike in thefts, especially at caravan parks and tourist facilities, he said.
“Trends obviously come and go...vehicles are easy targets because they are parked on the street,” Detective Senior Sergeant Hall said.
