“After receiving feedback from the community Council have discussed the opening hours of the landfill and decided to extend the hours,” Cloncurry Shire Council Mayor Greg Campbell said.
“Council will continue to have a site supervisor on at the landfill to assist residents and ensure that waste is documented and disposed of in the correct location.”
The new facility opening hours are effective from April 21 and are as follows:
Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 8am-noon and 1pm-6pm.
Weekends (Saturday and Sunday):8am-noon and 1pm-6pm.
Public Holidays: 8am-noon (excluding Christmas Day)
Council changed the landfill access times in February 2017 to ensure Council was not faced with significant fines for not complying with Department of Environment and Heritage Protection environmental obligations.
The facility does not accept any liquid wastes and semi-liquid wastes including cooking oil and hydrocarbons such as oily water and waste oils from vehicles.
If you have any enquiries regarding the appropriate disposal of unaccepted waste, please contact Council on 4742 4100.
