The Australian pop star has four top-ten albums to her credit and 15 top-twenty singles (including nine top-ten hits), has two ARIA Music Awards, and was ranked sixteenth on a list of the "100 Greatest Australian Singers of All Time".
She was also the first artist to represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest and appeared in the popular film The Sapphires.
Her appearance in Mount Isa is a coup for organisers and adds to the vibe of Rodeo week.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said they had been working on securing Mauboy’s services since October last year.
“She is the right fit for Mount Isa, we wanted a superstar for the rodeo,” Cr McCulloch said.
“We’re very excited.”
The street festival will take place in the centre of town on the evening of Wednesday August 9.
Cr McCulloch said last year was the first time the street party was held on that night.
“This year we wanted to send a message the street party is here to stay,” she said.
“We are getting state government drought assistance funding to support this and this ticks all the boxes as it’s a free event.”
The Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo will be held August 11-13.
