Yet they came from far and wide as Mount Isa City Councillor Paul Stretton noted in Wednesday’s Mount Isa City Council meeting.
Cr Stretton, who has the Camooweal portfolio, said he was among the first to arrive at 5.30am but he was amazed at the final turnout for the service.
Acting Senior Constable Adrian Solah said Camooweal hosted a dawn service on Anzac Day which was attended by 80 -100 people at the Camooweal war memorial.
“The service was hosted by Camooweal Police with speeches made by students from Camooweal State School students and a prayer from Pastor Jono Wright,” Acting Senior Constable Solah said.
“Following the service Camooweal driveway roadhouse hosted a breakfast raising funds for legacy".
