BUFFALO BILLS 13 DEFEATED BARKLY INCREDIBALLZ 11 (James Hay 4)
It was close early with both sides matching blows for a 5-all scoreline but Ziggy Grubczynski took two quick frames and Steph James also helped to get the Bills to 9-5. The lead got to 11-7 but the Ballz came back. The match could have ended in a draw as Russell Holdsworth and James Hay, the best on the day, got the Ballz to 12-11, but Grubczynski came up clutch for the Bills to jump back in the winners’ circle.
OVERLANDER NEW STARS 13 (Scott Megarrity 4) DEFEATED BOWLING ALLEY INLAWS 11
The Overlander New Stars are on the march, getting close to 8th spot after a gripping 13-11 victory over the Bowling Alley Inlaws still searching for their first win.
The Inlaws looked poised as the score was even at 9-all. The frames were evenly matched all day as Frank Janssen and Carl Olssenfiji pushed the Inlaws tally up while for the New Stars, captain Scott Megarrity went undefeated on the day. But Pete Tomaskovic and Grant Booker joined Megarrity on a 4-nil run to end the Inlaws day and relegate them to the bottom of the table.
MIBC HUSTLERS 16 (Garth Apps 4, Greg Payne 4) DEFEATED BOWLING ALLEY CPR 8
The MIBC Hustlers keep hanging around the top-4 and staying in touch with the leaders, but their 16-8 win over the Bowling Alley CPR showed improvement. The Hustlers were rarely challenged as Tony Semyraha and Greg Payne were in form, but CPR had some upset wins as Jacob Armstrong had three wins out of four frames. The early 10-2 lead was too much for the CPR despite some late frames and they dropped their fifth-straight match after starting the year with two good wins.
IRISH CLUB OUTLAWS 16 (Frank Shuker 4) DEFEATED BUFFS JMI 8
Relinquishing six frames to forfeits to third-placed Irish Club Outlaws meant Buffs JMI were already against it and the Outlaws closed the day 16-8 winners. Frank Shuker starred for the Outlaws who welcomed back Randall Thorpe as well, chipping in for three handy frames.
MIBC ISLANDERS 18 (Noel Doyle 4) DEFEATED BARKLY BOOZERS 6
The final match of the day saw the MIBC Islanders prevail over the Barkly Boozers 18-6. The Islanders shrugged the Boozers off early as 5-1 became 10-2 to the side from the Island Bowls Club, though Wacko Walford kept his great form up for the Boozers, tying for 8th spot on the individual standings on the year.
