The champion gelding has drawn barrier 14 but Dale is confident veteran jockey Damian Browne has a few tricks up his sleeve to work Fell Swoop into contention.

"We've got Damian Browne and are very happy to have secured him because he's very well versed at Doomben which is a quirky course," Dales said.

The 1200m race marks Fell Swoop's first jump since running third at the TJ Smith Stakes on April 1 and Dale expects another strong showing on a heavy Brisbane track.

"He had a nice barrier trial at Goulburn to tick him over and travelled up north well. Drawn a very wide barrier which is far from ideal at Doomben but they've had a bit of rain and the sting will certainly be out of the track which may help the barrier," Dale said.

"He's handle all conditions and soft range is his ideal range but heavy 8 wouldn't be of concern. The only time he failed on heavy was on a 10 on galaxy day but if you could rate it past 10 it was probably a heavy 12 that day.

"Last year he won the Victory Stakes and then ran in this race so he'll go in a little different to last year when he ran fifth beaten a length and half. But I think this time around he presents in every bit as good or better, obviously the barrier is a big concern but nothing we can do about that."

Fell Swoop will race at Doomben then in the Kingsford-Smith Cup at Eagle Farm a fortnight later, before spelling for a month.

"We've got him listed in the Stradbroke as well but that's highly unlikely at this stage because we're looking at 1400m and also thinking of his next prep," Dale said.
