After weeks of ongoing negotiations between the Wests Tigers and Moses' management, the club has finally agreed to release Moses - who was told not to come to training the past two days - to join the Eels on a two-and-a-half-year deal. Moses met with Arthur on Tuesday night to attend a video session ahead of his first run-out with his new teammates.
Originally, the Tigers had hoped to land a replacement before agreeing to release the talented five-eighth, but Fairfax Media understands his position at the club became untenable such was the backlash after two consecutive horror outings.
There's no doubt the pressure and burden of a drawn-out contract saga began to take its toll on Moses, but it's understood he has assured the Eels he won't be weighed down once he arrives at his junior club ahead of Saturday night's clash with the Canberra Raiders.
He finished last week's match against South Sydney without a run and eight missed tackles to his name, and was heavily criticised by Tigers supporters in the stands at ANZ Stadium.
But Arthur will be keen to see his new playmaker challenge the line when he dons the blue-and-gold jersey against Canberra on Saturday.
"I think he'll have a bit of relief and a bit of pressure off his shoulders to come and enjoy his footy again," Arthur told Fairfax Media.
"We will keep it nice and simple for him early in the piece. We won't complicate things for him too much. His strength is his running game so we'll encourage him to run. Kenny Edwards and the boys on the right edge will help him, don't worry about that."
Moses' arrival is a welcome addition given the Eels are expected to be without in-form halfback Corey Norman for a month after he suffered a knee injury in the humiliating loss to the Roosters on Sunday.
The Eels are also boosted by the return of fullback Bevan French from a knee injury, allowing Clint Gutherson to return to the halves alongside Moses for Saturday night's clash at ANZ Stadium.
"The timing is ideal for us with Normy going down," Arthur said.
"I think it could be a positive for Mitchell. It might give him a good opportunity to take ownership of the team in the next couple of weeks until Normy comes back. That way he can get a feel for it and hopefully they can strike up a combination when Normy returns."
The Tigers have named Jack Littlejohn as Moses' replacement, with the Warriors denying Tuimoala Lolohea a release to join Ivan Cleary until they find a suitable replacement.
It's likely fullback James Tedesco will take on the goal-kicking duties vacated by Moses' defection to the Eels.
The Tigers and Eels, who squared off on Easter Monday in round seven, aren't due to cross paths again until round 20 this year.??? Parramatta's clash with South Sydney next Friday night will mark the third time this season Moses has played against the Rabbitohs.
Moses decided to link with the Eels after the Tigers withdrew their offer to the five-eighth in order to sign priority targets Aaron Woods and James Tedesco.
He then asked for an immediate release, and several thereafter, but was repeatedly knocked back by the club for almost six weeks.
