A veritable petting zoo was on offer thanks to two local animal charities; Northwest Wildlife Carers and Paws, Hoofs, and Claws.
Wildlife carer Joyce Brogden brought six joeys along to the expo in cotton pouches, including wallabies, kangaroos, and a baby wallaroo.
She dedicates her time to care for the orphaned animals around the clock before releasing them onto a protected, predator free station.
Sue Carson from Paws, Hoofs and Claws also brought furry friends to MineX including two kittens, several puppies, and a lovely dog called Boss – who is looking for a forever home.
Ms Carson said she currently has around 60 animals needing adoption.
A crowd of school children gathered form 3pm to covet a puppy or two, with a few wanting to adopt.
Mount Isa Mines is a major sponsor of both charities, and invited them to be part of their stall at MineX 2017.
