Almost 10,000 people scored a job in Queensland last month, but the Liberal National Party says the latest labour force data is still a "tragedy".

In seasonally adjusted terms, Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed an increase in employment of 9800 people in Queensland in April.
It was the third largest increase in employment in the country. The only decrease in employment for the month was in South Australia, which was down 5000 people.
Queensland's unemployment rate was 6.3 per cent in April seasonally adjusted, remaining steady compared to March, but the state had the second highest unemployment rate in Australia.
Shadow treasurer Scott Emerson said the figures were a "tragedy for Queensland".
"That's a tragedy for Queensland families out there looking for jobs, it's heartbreaking for those families whose children can't get work," he said.
"We're fighting the wooden spoon of South Australia - we're the second worst unemployment figures in Australia.
"Even Tasmania is doing better than us.
"We're 1.6 per cent worse than the Blues (New South Wales). We're not just losing the economic State of Origin, we're getting smashed."
But Treasurer Curtis Pitt said that since the 2015 election, almost 60,000 net new jobs had been created.
Mr Pitt pointed to recent surveys, such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland-Suncorp Pulse survey, which found business confidence was the highest since December 2014.
"This is a marked turnaround and is showing that the economic plan that we've brought to Queensland is working," Mr Pitt said.
"We still have work to do but I'm very pleased to see that we have a significant shift in business confidence."
Mr Pitt said the state budget, due to be handed down on June 13, would focus on jobs and the regional Queensland.
He said money in the forward estimates would be "about job-creating infrastructure projects" but did not detail whether more money would be in the budget for Cross River Rail.
The federal government did not include money for the $5.4 billion project in its budget this month, apart from the option to fight for part of a $10 billion national rail program.
On Thursday, Infrastructure Australia listed a "couple of issues" with the Cross River Rail business case.
