A ReachTEL survey, commissioned by the Together union, found Labor would receive 51 per cent of the vote, two-party preferred, after the allocation of respondent preferences, to 49 per cent for the LNP.

But One Nation would still be a force to be reckoned with in the next Queensland Parliament, and would likely win several seats, according to the poll.

The presence of a strong third party, and the results of any preference deals, could deliver unexpected results at the next ballot box.

Labor has already ruled out forming a minority government with One Nation support, which could force the party into opposition.

On first preference votes, Labor would get 31.9 per cent of the vote, the LNP would get 30.6 per cent, the Greens 7.1 per cent, One Nation 16.7 per cent and other/ independent 4.1 per cent.

But 9.6 per cent of voters remained undecided.

The undecided voters were asked which parties they had a "slight leaning" towards, with 36.3 per cent saying Labor and 23.3 per cent saying the LNP.

However, when asked which of the parties they would preference higher, 40 per cent said Labor and 60 per cent said the LNP.

Together union secretary Alex Scott said the survey showed the election would be on a "knife edge".

"The next election remains a knife edge election, with almost 10 per cent of the population remaining undecided," Mr Scott said.

Mr Scott said the poll showed a significant number of rural seats would probably fall to One Nation.

"And we'll see a very different Parliament if these votes hold," he said.

The polling also showed 77.8 per cent of voters believed the major parties should announce before the election how many public sector jobs they planned to cut should they win government.

They were also asked whether the Newman government cutting 22,000 jobs from the public sector improved or worsened the Queensland economy.

Almost one-third said it improved the economy, 26.1 per cent said it had no impact and 41.3 per cent said the economy had worsened.

On balance, 19 per cent said they would be more likely to vote for the LNP if they refused to release the details of any job cuts to the Queensland public sector in their budget reply speech in June, 32.6 per cent said less likely and 48.4 per cent would not change their vote.

Mr Scott said the union would continue its campaign to ensure any public sector job cuts would be announced before the state election and that Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls detail any job cuts in his response to the state budget.

"Clearly there remain very strong opposition to public sector job cuts," he said.

"Queenslanders have said overwhelmingly that they deserve to know the truth before they vote rather than a nasty surprise after they get a new government."

Mr Nicholls was the treasurer under former premier Campbell Newman during the public service job cuts.

In April, Mr Nicholls said there would be no forced redundancies in the public service under an LNP government.

ReachTEL surveyed 1513 residents across Queensland on the night of May 18.

The next state election is due by May 2018, but is expected to be held late this year.
