Former Gungahlin Bull Onorato has asked NSW hopeful Paul Vaughan to be one of his groomsmen on May 25, just six days before the Origin series opener.

The problem is his wedding is in Hawaii. And while Vaughan has already booked his flights, Onorato is certain his close mate won't be on the plane when it leaves.

So Onorato will be torn while watching Daley's team announcement.

"There's a little part of me that doesn't want him to play but I can't be selfish," Onorato said.

"Yeah it's my wedding but not every player has a season like this and gets an opportunity to play for NSW. There's no doubt in my mind that he won't be on that plane with me and I'm with him all the way."

Onorato and Vaughan are former Gungahlin teammates and they had planned to celebrate during the St George Illawarra bye week.

Vaughan's career has exploded this season after leaving the Canberra Raiders last year to take a chance at the Dragons.

Onorato has taken a year away from Canberra Raiders Cup duties with the Bulls and was instead planning a mid-year wedding in Hawaii.

The Origin opener will start at midnight in Hawaii, but Onorato has already committed to putting his honeymoon on hold to watch the game, joking he would need a second wedding so Vaughan could attend.

"It'll be a late night game here in Hawaii but I've made sure that we'll all be able to watch it, there's no chance I'd miss it," Onorato said.

Meanwhile, the Queanbeyan Kangaroos travel to Yass play against the Magpies in round seven of the Canberra Raiders Cup on Saturday.

Kangaroos player-coach Aaron Gorrell is looking for his players to come out firing after a bye last week and trashing the Goulburn Bulldogs 58-8 two weeks ago.

"I hope we can keep it going, I still don't think we've hit our potential. We need to improve each week and hopefully we can continue this weekend," Gorrell said.

"We a few blokes that were busted up, we rested and did what we had to do.We had a break and it got the boys ready."

The Kangaroos will be missing a host of players who have been selected in the Monaro-ACT country championships side, including New Zealander Nukurua Ngere, who Gorrell rates as the best forward in Canberra.

Yass will be looking to write a different story when they run out in front of their home fans. The fourth-placed team is coming off back-to-back loses and will look to get its campaign back on track.

"They're a good team and they've been going well, they're tough and we're going to have to play well," Gorrell said.
