MIBC ISLANDERS 13 (Noel Doyle 4) DEFEATED BOWLING ALLEY INLAWS 11
The Bowling Alley Inlaws have found some mettle despite being winless after seven rounds. They played at home for the first time in a month against the MIBC Islanders undefeated in six rounds. The Islanders best on the day was Noel Doyle. Pete Burgess also has good form yet the tenacious Inlaws stuck strong behind great wins from Frank Janssen and captain, Noodle String. It got to 5-all before the Islanders kicked on to open up a three-frame lead. Janssen and String manufactured another comeback to tie the day at 9-all, and then have a one-frame advantage with an unlikely win on the cards. But Jay Austin and captain Sam Carpenter joined Burgess and Doyle to take four of the last five frames to secure the victory.
BUFFS JMI 13 (Troy Anderson 4) DEFEATED MIBC HUSTLERS 11
The MIBC Hustlers needed to get back on track after losing their past two and falling down the ladder to sixth while the JMI were just happy to have a full side. The numbers from the JMI would get the win, 13-11 in heart-stopping fashion. The JMI took a 4-2 advantage through Chris Allan and Frank Gatto, only for the Hustlers to level at 6-all with Greg Payne and Garth Apps taking tense frames. Troy Anderson, the JMI’s best on the day, led another surge for a three-frame lead but then it shifted toward the Hustlers. Steve Healy and Apps again combined to trail by one but at 12-11, the Hustlers were first on the black in the final frame and nearly snagged an unlikely draw. Lai Soqovata showed poise for the JMI to claim another close win, and leapfrog the Hustlers into sixth spot.
BUFFS 303S 18 (Jye Graham 4, Ashton Graham 1) DEFEATED IRISH CLUB OUTLAWS 6
The Buffs 303s played the Irish Club Outlaws in a battle of first v third and it looked to be a close contest. However, as Pierre Pardo got two early wins for the Outlaws, they were struck down against a very focussed 303s who jetted out to a 7-3 lead. The 303s best of Jye and Shaye Graham dismantled the Outlaws.
BOWLING ALLEY CPR 20 (Don Cameron 4; Dwayne McDonald 4; Lester Armstrong 4) DEFEATED BARKLY BOOZERS 4
The Bowling Alley CPR got to within one frame of a very good Buffalo Bills side last week, and took out their frustrations on the Barkly Boozers. Dwayne MacDonald has struck some good form for the CPR as have Don Cameron and Lester Armstrong. The Bowling Alley would be cheering to get both of their sides in good form to rattle some top scalps in the coming rounds.
BARKLY INCREDIBALLZ 15 DEFEATED OVERLANDER NEW STARS 9
The Barkly Incrediballz have finally broken into the top five and have managed to get all their troops playing each week. They would not have expected to be in a dog fight against the 10th placed New Stars. It was a day for the Ballz they would rather forget even though they won. No player emerged 100% and the New Stars captain Scott Megarrity was thrilled with his team’s performance. Pete Tomaskovic and Megarrity were the Stars best while James Hay, Johnny Houng and Joel Lindenburgh were the best for the Ballz to finally steer them to fourth on the ladder.
