Cometti now resides in his hometown Perth and while he still calls the weekly AFL game at Domain Stadium on radio for Triple M, he no longer has to endure the gruelling travel schedule which saw him regularly head to Melbourne, among other cities, to call the footy.

However, life is about to become a whole lot more supercharged for the 68 year old who is set to feature in the Perth leg of the 'House Of Hardcore' wrestling promotion which arrives in Australia next month.

Cometti's son Mark, also known as 'The Outback Silverback', is a professional wrestler who will feature in the wrestling extravaganza headlined by former WWE superstars Tommy Dreamer and Billy Gunn.

And by the sounds of it, Mark will be tasked with protecting his father's honour during the event.

"I think I'm part of the ritual that goes on before the bout. I could be badmouthed by one or two of these WWE people which is downright rude in my town," Cometti told The Four Hoarsemen podcast.

"I'll be hurt by it and I'm expecting my son comes down the walkway and goes after these pricks."

Cometti intimated that a time-honoured wrestling foreign object such as a steel chair or a two-by-four could end up connecting with his head at some point, too.

The iconic commentator said he trained his son to become a wrestler and recounted that young Mark took it all a little bit too seriously at one point in his life.

"Remember the movie 'The Pink Panther' and Cato the manservant who used to lie in wait for his master to come home and hit him over the head with a table? That would be me when my son came home late. I'd be waiting until one night he hung me up in the cupboard and that was the end of it," Cometti recalled with a laugh. "It was a flogging of the first order. I realised then I wasn't going to hit him again with a table, I wouldn't wait up for him."

The 'House Of Hardcore' will be staged at the Brisbane Showground (June 16), Sydney Showground (June 17), Perth's Cyril Jackson Recreation Centre (June 18), Melbourne's Whitehorse Club (June 23) and Adelaide's Marion Leisure & Fitness Centre (June 24).
