In the spirit of spot-the-difference pictures, ‘What Can I See?’ encourages young children to identify and learn visual similarities and differences.
Cassandra began writing children’s stories while on maternity leave and said the inspiration came about from reading books to her own babies.
“More than anything I wrote this story for my children,” Cassandra said.
“I sat on it for a while and then drew the pictures so the actual writing and drawing was quite quick, it was done in a matter of a few days.”
The book was published six months later with InHouse publishing, and launched in April at the Mount Isa Autumn Markets.
Parents and children attended a live reading of the book at Mount Isa Library on Wednesday May 17.
The library has two copies of 'What Can I See?’ which is available from Wizzamakidz, Harrison’s Book Country, and Mount Isa East Post Office, and Mount Isa Nursery and Kindergarten.
The Mount Isa City Library hosted Cassandra as part of their weekly story telling day.
