But it does not mean no body, no parole - which would keep murderers behind bars unless they reveal the location of their victim - will never become law in Queensland.

Both Labor and the LNP support introducing a no body, no parole law in Queensland, but they disagree about how to do it.

The LNP had attempted to move an amendment to Labor's Corrective Services (Parole Board) and Other Legislation Amendment bill, with debate resuming on Tuesday.

But earlier on Tuesday, Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath introduced a new bill, which would also legislate no body, no parole.

The Katter's Australian Party MPs, One Nation MP Steve Dickson and independents Rob Pyne and Billy Gordon all supported the LNP to allow them to debate their no body, no parole amendment to the parole bill.

But when it came to the crunch, the crossbenchers all stood behind the government to vote against the LNP's no body, no parole amendment as part of the parole bill.

No body, no parole was a recommendation in the Queensland Parole System Review, conducted by Walter Sofronoff QC. But it had not been originally included in Labor's parole board bill.

Opposition Police spokesman Tim Mander said families had been calling for no body, no parole for years.

"We have travelled around this state and heard some very harrowing stories of families who talk about the pain and the anguish when they've lost a loved one through some horrendous crime, and then that is exaggerated 100 fold by the fact that they never found the remains of their loved one's body," Mr Mander said.

"What we have done is simply bring on something that the government should have brought on."

Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan said the government's no body, no parole bill addressed several flaws in the LNP's amendment.

"The member for Everton's [Tim Mander] amendment also doesn't properly define the offences to which this particular no body, no parole model should apply," Mr Ryan said.

Member for Hinchinbrook Andrew Cripps accused the government of having a "political tantrum" and said they should have included no body, no parole in the parole bill in the first place.

He said Labor should have amended the LNP amendment, rather than introducing a new bill.

"The member for Everton caught them with their pants down," Mr Cripps said.

But Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said homicide victims groups, the Queensland Law Society and other groups should have a chance to provide feedback on the no body, no parole model through the committee process.

"Why are you choosing not to give those people, those victims' families a say? Why?" Ms D'Ath said.

Shadow Attorney-General Ian Walker said there was consultation through Walter Sofronoff QC's parole review, which recommended the no body, no parole provision.

The parole board bill - which includes reducing the number of parole boards from three to one - passed Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

It also clarifies that Queensland Corrective Services officers may direct offenders on parole to wear, and be monitored by, GPS devices.

The government's no body, no parole bill has been referred to the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee.
