Nippy Gold Coast forward Brandon Matera is understood to already be firmly on the radar as a preferential recruiting target.

Emerging Adelaide scoring source Mitch McGovern will also continue to be linked with a possible move to West Coast until he declares intentions to stay with the Crows or ask to be released back to continue his blossoming career from his home state.

Matera and McGovern are both out of contract at the end of the 2017 season.

Simpson confirmed his priority is to bolster his scoring avenues with LeCras and superstar key forward Josh Kennedy, 29, now annually facing dreaded retirement considerations.

Matera, 25, ideally fits the mould of fast, crumbing, small forward that Simpson wants skirting his scoring zones in tandem with Kennedy and Jack Darling.

"That's probably the number one priority for us and from a list management point of view about what we can do to add to that," Simpson said.

LeCras, 30, is waiting to launch talks with West Coast management on a new contract after this season and is headed for a one-year extension at the most, with no certainty he will be offered a new deal.

The 2010 All-Australian and 186-game veteran will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and could opt to finish his career elsewhere.

He has been constantly maligned for his gross inconsistency in a stuttering season so far individually and with the Eagles, who sit fourth with six wins and three losses.

LeCras has booted 17 goals from nine outings this season as the Eagles equal-second top scorer with Darling, behind dual Coleman Medal sharp-shooter Kennedy, who has 31.

Simpson confirmed that detecting and attracting a dynamic small goal-shark is high on his shopping list from next season as new small forward Willie Rioli resumes somewhere next month from a nasty hamstring injury.

Rioli, 22, was a mature age draftee to West Coast this season after some stunning exploits in the strong South Australian league with Glenelg.

He made a conservative return to playing action last weekend in the reserves with Eagles alignment outfit East Perth and booted four goals.

His anticipated AFL debut seems more likely to happen in June if he is fit and free of any injury niggles.

The Eagles boss identified an alarming inconsistency in goal-front finishing from star forwards.

The normally reliable Kennedy had unusual staggers with 3.6 in the Eagles gritty eight-point win over reigning premiers Western Bulldogs in round eight, while Darling managed 2.5 in Sunday's 10-goal drubbing from Essendon.

Kennedy booted 4.2 against the Bombers as the Eagles only winning source in last weekend's thumping and LeCras has accumulated just 0.3 in each of his last two outings.

"Accuracy has been an issue the last couple of weeks," Simpson said.

"That's something we've got to look at."

Simpson pointed to a potential recall for often maligned forward Josh Hill as a possible inclusion for Sunday's showdown with Greater Western Sydney after he was dropped for the Bombers debacle.

Hill, 28, has booted 12 goals from his eight appearances so far this season from an average of 12 disposals a game.

West Coast could make up to six changes for their Giants appointment and bid to rebound from scathing criticism for their inept outing against an inspired Bombers.

Veteran Drew Petrie looks headed for a recall after just one week back at WAFL level with East Perth as does enigmatic winger Lewis Jetta.

Jetta, 28, was instrumental in East Perth's last-gasp one-point win over a strong South Fremantle unit with 21 disposals, including 10 drives into the Royals forward 50m zone.

West Coast also appears poised to pick hard inside on-baller Luke Partington to make his AFL debut.

Partington, 20, had 32 disposals against South as he averages 29 possessions through eight impressive WAFL games so far this season.
