Turner follows Raiders fullback Zac Santo out of Canberra before the June 30 deadline, with Santo joining the New Zealand Warriors.

The 28-year-old Englishman didn't play a game for the Green Machine - although he did play in the NRL All Stars game at Newcastle - having joined them on a two-year-deal at the start of the season.

He's been linked with Warrington, Salford, Huddersfield and Wakefield with an announcement expected before the Raiders-Sydney Roosters clash at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

The Roosters might be without five players due to State of Origin - Mitchell Pearce, co-captain Boyd Cordner, Aidan Guerra, Blake Ferguson and Dylan Napa - but they have the motivation of co-captain Jake Friend's 200th NRL game.

Friend was the starting hooker in the Roosters' 2013 grand final victory, having come through the club's junior ranks.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson expected his players to lift for their inspirational leader, despite the absence of so many quality players.

"Two hundred games for your captain, it's a pretty important game for him and for us and hopefully we can honour him well down in Canberra," he said on Friday.

"He's been here since he was a kid, came down from Noosa. He's represented how we want to play the game - the toughness that he plays with, he plays above his weight all the time and he's developed over the years into a good man and a good leader.

"It's important that you mark these milestones in your club, but especially for someone like Jake and the length of time that he's been here."

Robinson said it was up to the Roosters to take the right "mindset" to Canberra to help counteract the loss of their five Origin stars.

He said they were lucky to have leaders like co-captain Friend, Mitchell Aubusson and prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the side to help account for the loss of Cordner and playmaker Pearce.

They're looking for their third win in a row to help maintain their spot in the top four, while the Raiders are hoping to get their season back on track with back-to-back wins.

The Raiders will be without just one player due to Origin, Queensland second-rower Josh Papalii.

"It's all about your mindset. You can see it as a distraction or an opportunity and we see it as an opportunity," Robinson said.

"There's going to be some really good players that are going to fill that void there and we want to go out and perform really well.

"We're still pulling on the jersey and there's still two competition points [up for grabs] so we'll be ready to go on Sunday."
