Early tickets have just been released ahed of the July 14-16 event with visitors offered discounted early-bird tickets online.
Organisers have announced the headline entertainer to be Boulia’s most famous export, Ali S Country Singer, who brings with him an exciting band of Toyota Country Star Makers.
Ali and his band will light up the stage on Saturday night, straight after a promised fireworks extravaganza and the first full day of camel racing.
Sunday afternoon’s program may very well deliver the most surprises on stage, as the band takes to the stage to showcase the individual talents which earned each of them the coveted titles of Toyota Country Music Star Makers.
With many campers already onsite, Friday evening will open the event with a Slim Dusty Tribute Show – ‘Dustier than Ever’, performed by the Chris Cook Band.
Having been a long-time mate to Slim Dusty and also having had the honour of Slim recording three of his own songs, Chris Cook plays with great skill and great love as he leads on guitar, fiddle and bluegrass/hillbilly banjo.
Tthe Road Boss Rally and its crew of some 200 rally participants, are just some of the visitors from across Australia who are making plans to head to Boulia for its famous races.
Rallying in aid of GIVIT charities, the Road Boss Rally will set out from Gladstone and head to Boulia before they head for their final destination of Tamworth.
Camping onsite and campfires is all part of the experience of the Boulia Camel Races and included with a weekend pass ticket.
Local Tourism Officer, Shelley Norton said visitors were welcome to camp onsite at the racecourse from the Sunday July 9 before the races through to Friday July 21.
“It’s no extra cost to stick around longer and gives plenty of opportunity to check out our new most exciting fossil at the Marine Reptile Fossil Display,” Ms Norton said.
“We call him Percy and to describe him it’s probably easiest to say that he looks a lot like a Loch Ness Monster.”
Ms Norton said Boulia Camel Races has risen in popularity and is now firmly on the itinerary for Outback travellers in 2017 with many visitors already in the region for the Big Red Bash.
There will be swag of novelty fun races, with duck races added to the program for the first time this year.
