He also owns a 1968 MG sports car, which is legally declared as an asset worth over $5000.

The wide and varied community interests of the man dubbed "Mr Ipswich" by his own community are laid out for all to read in his April 2016 pecuniary interest register.

Mr Pisasale was Queensland's most popular mayor - receiving 83.4 per cent of the vote in the 2016 council elections.

But he announced his resignation from the council on June 6, the same day reports emerged that he had been stopped at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport on May 13 when a sniffer dog detected $50,000 in cash in his carry-on baggage.

A day later, Brisbane barrister Sam Di Carlo said Mr Pisasale had been carrying the cash for him "as a friend" as part of a legal settlement for a Chinese client.

The register shows he is a member or the patron of 86 business, sporting and community groups in Ipswich and Brisbane, including Brisbane's Italian Golf Association and the rockabilly dance group Just Rock Ipswich, where he is patron.

And, yes, he is patron of the South East Queensland Woodpeckers Woodcrafters Incorporated. In Ipswich, of course.

He is also patron of the Australian Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Queensland, the Brookwater Golf and Country Club, Central Districts Cricket Club, Hannah's House in Ipswich, HeartKids Queensland, the Ipswich Arts Foundation, the Ipswich Basketball Association, the iconic Ipswich Hospice Care and 20 other groups.

He is a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an ambassador for Bravehearts, a life member of the Chinese Business and Professional Association of Queensland and of the Hindu Society of Queensland.

On the planning front, Mr Pisasale is still a member of the Australian Labor Party - though some locals in the past 12 months have unsuccessfully moved to have him removed - the South East Queensland Regional Planning Committee and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is president of Forward Ipswich Inc and the director of these council-owned companies Ipswich City Developments, Pty Ltd, Ipswich City Enterprises Investments Pty Ltd, Ipswich City Enterprises Pty Ltd, Ipswich City Properties Pty Ltd City, the Ipswich Mayor's Community Fund as well as Ultimate Solutions Pty Ltd ( a private business company) and Waltill Pty Ltd, which the trustee of his family trust, the PJ Pisasale Family Trust.

The former mayor's percuniary interests register shows income from his work with Ipswich City Council, executive fees with the Local Government Association, income from the taxi licences and rent from the Melbourne apartment.

He has a loan with Bendigo Bank for the Yellow Cab licences and to cover the mortgage payments for the Glen Waverley apartment.

As of April 2016, Mr Pisasale was the beneficiary of his family trust, the PJ Pisasale Family Trust, his family company Waltill Pty Ltd and the private company Ultimate Solutions Pty Ltd.

He has five accounts with Bendigo Bank; including a cheque account, a community cheque account, a Forward Ipswich Incorporated cheque account, a 2016 campaign cheque account and a term deposit held by his family company Waltill Pty Ltd.

It shows he also has a cheque account with Westpac.

Those around Mr Pisasale say he worked at "90 miles an hour" and was often awake at 4am with ideas.

He is also a member of MS Society, a Brisbane group for fellow sufferers of multiple sclerosis, the nerve disease he said was behind his sudden resignation.

"My journey has been going for 26 years and I am so proud to have been the mayor for such a wonderful city," he said at the announcement, wearing the white hospital gown from St Andrew's Ipswich Private Hospital and the red pyjama pants dotted with white stars and red socks.

They will become a strange parting symbol from a colourful career.
