Senior Bombers figures are privately questioning the approach of former player Nathan Lovett-Murray - one of those three players - who is preparing to launch a $1 million Supreme Court damages claim against the club.

Lovett-Murray, Jake Carlisle, and one other player are believed to be the only three Bombers of the 34 players suspended last year by the Court of Arbitration for Sport not to have settled their claims with the club.

Lovett-Murray's case was again highlighted on Friday when he reiterated to News Corp Australia his fears that his three-year-old daughter Harmony's health was impacted by the supplements provided to him by Essendon in 2012.

The Dons say they have been aware of Lovett-Murray's concerns for more than a year, and have worked with the one-time defender for the betterment of Harmony's health.

But the Bombers are steadfast in their view that compensation claims cannot be a case of open slather.

The club's chief executive Xavier Campbell said on Friday that the same process had to be followed for all of the 34 players to ensure fairness.

"We felt it was really important to provide a consistent approach, a fair approach, with respect to the process. We've done that, and so far we've settled 31 of 34 players. I feel really confident we've got one or two we should be able to settle in this next short period of time," Campbell said.

"It's a challenging matter, but we've been as fair and as consistent as we can be, and I think that's an overriding principle that we're not prepared to move away from."

Campbell maintained that the Dons have tried to support Lovett-Murray through his concerns. "The club, when it was first brought to our attention, we worked with his management to provide support where we could, and that something that we'll continue to do, not just for Nathan but all players that have been impacted by the supplements program."

The Dons argue Lovett-Murray's relationship with the club isn't broken given he attended a function for the Dreamtime match against Richmond two weeks ago.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said he would do whatever he could, along with the league and Essendon, to help Lovett-Murray and his family through what is a "tough period" for them.

"If there's broader support or medical support [beyond his compensation claim], we will provide whatever we can," McLachlan told 3AW on Friday.

"We've been talking to his [Lovett-Murray's] management and I think the right area of focus in any help we can is to make sure that Nathan's little child is OK and that's the priority and the focus here."

McLachlan sympathised with the "Essendon 34" who are dealing with the uncertainty and nervousness of not knowing what substances they consumed and what effect they might have on their health.

"That's always been one of the most challenging aspects of this," McLachlan said.

But he denied the AFL had any culpability in what happened to Lovett-Murray and his former teammates.

In January last year, Fairfax Media reported that Lovett-Murray had engaged a high-profile barrister to mount a legal battle for compensation after his year-long ban from football due to the supplements program.
