Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk welcomed the appointment of Erin Faithful, who at 18 years of age is the youngest Queensland Plan Ambassador.
“As the newest Queensland Plan Ambassador, Erin will be a voice for young people across the state living in rural and regional Queensland,” the Premier said.
“Erin is a highly accomplished individual, with a strong track record of charity work and as Youth Councillor for the Mount Isa community.”
Ms Faithful won the Mount Isa Young Citizen of the year at a ceremony at the Civic Centre on Australia Day.
She also served on Mount Isa’s Youth Council and is a talented athlete breaking local records in under 18s long jump in Mount Isa.
In 2016 she was a school leader in Year 12 at Good Shepherd Catholic College where she was leader of the academic portfolio.
Ms Faithful said at the time she would like to encourage and inspire students to do well in school and do great things with their life.
Queensland Plan Ambassadors Council Chair and former government minister and Mount Isa Mayor Tony McGrady said he was looking forward to working with Ms Faithful.
“Erin has already done a great deal for her community,” Mr McGrady said.
“Her role will be to get out there in Mount Isa, champion the Queensland Plan and provide a voice for young people, sharing what matters most to them.
“Given Erin’s strong leadership skills, I have every confidence she will contribute an enormous amount to the Council.”
The Queensland Plan Ambassadors Council ensures the community-led vision remains the people’s plan—working with Government to oversee the plan’s implementation across the state and encouraging community participation.
