The health expo takes place from Friday August 25 to Saturday 26 August at the Mount Isa Civic Centre.
“The Mount Isa Health Expo 2017 will cater to all walks of life, all ages and stages of health.
“There’ll be something for everyone, with interactive displays and demonstrations that will encourage people to participate and learn more about their own health and how to have a healthier lifestyle,” Ms Shrodter said.
Children’s activities are being built into the program, with point of care blood lead testing, oral health care education and displays, face painting, and other activities to engage children.
Ms Shrodter said she was in discussion with some sports and media celebrities and was hoping to attract at least one big name to the Health Expo.
“It’s been our experience that well known celebrities enjoy the opportunity to come to the Outback and share their stories, and this is a great opportunity for us to be inspired by a key note speaker or performer.”
Key sponsors have come on board, including Glencore Mount Isa Mines, North West Hospital and Health Service, North and West Remote Health, Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health, Western Queensland Primary Health Network, Gidgee Healing, Irish Club Gym, Lead Alliance and Young People Ahead.
Southern Cross and HitFM and the North West Star have sponsored media coverage.
“There is still an opportunity to be a sponsor for this significant event, and there are still exhibitor spaces available,” Ms Shrodter said.
