Australian rugby legend George Smith is back in the Wallabies camp, but says he is there to help in a mentoring capacity rather than push for a comeback match in a gold jersey.

Smith's popped up at Wallabies training on Monday after the 36-year-old received a call from coach Michael Cheika asking if he would like to help the squad with some technical aspects around the breakdown.
He was there again on Tuesday morning, mingling with a number of fresh-faced Wallabies in the sheds at Leichardt Oval just days after their 23-point win over Fiji in Melbourne.
"I think they needed a younger face in management," Smith told Fairfax Media. "I'm just here to assist wherever possible, predominantly at the breakdown area. I'm just here to see how players operate and learn a few things at the same time.
"This certainly wasn't in my thinking but things change over the season and 'Cheik' was kind enough to give me a buzz and invite me here, which I don't take lightly because being invited into the inner sanctum of the Wallabies set-up is quite special.
"This is my second day in but I'm really impressed with the way the boys conducted themselves and how professional they are."
It has been four years since Smith last represented the Wallabies and while he won't be adding to his 111 caps, the back-rower says he cannot be on deck all year.
Smith still has two games left for the Queensland Reds and will then head to Japan to fulfil commitments with Suntory in the Top League.
That is not to say Smith does not want to help out down the track and there is every chance Cheika will have him in mind when preparations ramp-up for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Smith said he is thrilled to get the chance to work with Wallabies captain Michael Hooper and NSW blindside breakaway Ned Hanigan.
"Hooper is a very good leader and people do follow his actions," Smith said. "He's a very good player and performs week in, week out.
"I want to know what they're thinking when they go into a breakdown. It's not always about thinking you can get a turnover every breakdown. It's what your effort area is around that breakdown. It's not a person that jackals every ball, it's about being effective in that area."
There were a number of other familiar faces at Wallabies training on Tuesday, with all five Super Rugby coaches attending as well as Australian women's sevens coach Tim Walsh.
Daryl Gibson, Nick Stiles, Tony McGahan and Dave Wessels - keeping in mind Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham is already there as a Wallabies assistant - were invited to observe training.
It is an exercise that has happened for a number of years now and not a byproduct of the recent "coaching summit".
