Mr Vasta, the father of federal LNP Ross Vasta, was removed by the Queensland Parliament in 1989.

While an inquiry had found no misconduct in relation to his decisions as a Supreme Court justice, it did find he had committed acts of misconduct in relation to tax arrangements, which prompted the Parliament to vote to sack him.

However, Mr Vasta was not charged with any offences.

Member for Mount Isa Robbie Katter has introduced a bill to revoke the decision to remove him as a judge.

In a letter to a parliamentary committee considering the bill, Mr Vasta said he had no avenue of appeal to the commission of inquiry's findings.

"The Queensland Parliament was and remains today, my only avenue of appeal," Mr Vasta said.

Mr Vasta said he welcomed the efforts of those who saw the move as a "means of correcting a wrong".

"Which, as the explanatory notes mention, is a blot on the Queensland parliamentary and judicial history," he said.

Mr Vasta also criticised the fact the National Party did not vote to adjourn the debate in the 1980s to give more time to consider the Judges' Commission of Inquiry's report.

"It was imperative that such a momentous vote should only be conducted after scrutinising the report carefully and thoroughly," he said.

"Principles of justice and a 'fair go' and the right of a fair hearing were not going to stand in the way of a government intent on showing how robust it was and how it possessed the ability to make 'tough' decisions."

Mr Vasta was removed from office eight days after the motion in Parliament was passed.

It was the only time since Federation that an Australian Parliament had removed a Supreme Court judge from office.

Mr Vasta also hit out at politicians across the decades, after member for Nambour Neil Turner raised the matter in Parliament in 1995.

"In the intervening period, politics and not the ideals of fairness and justice have prevailed over attempts to have this matter revisited," he said.

"It is obvious that this matter did not generate the requisite political interest necessary to justify appropriate remedial action being taken by Parliament."

Mr Vasta also said the Judges' Commission of Inquiry legislation was arguably invalid because it did not adhere to fundamental legislative principles.

He took issue with the "unwarranted intrusion into taxation matters at a time when I had not been queried by the taxation department".

"The staff of those assisting the Commission trawled through my private taxation returns and the Commission came to conclusions which were erroneous," he said.

"When one has to inquire into 'proven misbehaviour' and such behaviour is identified with breaches of the Income Tax Act, such breaches have to be found to have been committed before such behaviour can be found to have been proved."

He also complained about the publicity given to the case, and said the Commission could have heard evidence in private.

The Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee, chaired by Stretton MP Duncan Pegg, is due to report on the bill by September 4.
