For the second week in a row, Hunt has been named at No.12 to take on Scotland following an auspicious outing in Melbourne during Australia's 37-14 win over Fiji.

The decision to start Hunt against Fiji came at the 11th hour, with Wallabies coach Michael Cheika changing his mind during the Thursday session, knowing full well the 30-year-old had only lined up at inside-centre just once for the Queensland Reds.

Larkham, one of Australia's greatest playmakers, has backed Hunt for another big showing against the dangerous Scots and expressed his surprise at just how well he played.

"Have I seen someone play that well on such a short preparation? Probably not," Larkham said. "That's the nature of the guy. He's very experienced, played a number of big games in different codes. The position really suits him.

"His first training run with the team at inside-centre was on Thursday and he didn't complete the training because he copped a knock. He had Friday's captain's session and that was it going into the game.

"I've been very impressed with him."

While the Wallabies' first hit-out of the season was scrappy at times, Larkham was encouraged by the combination of Bernard Foley and Hunt at No.10 and No.12, particularly the way they chopped and changed as first receivers.

"Our 10 and 12 have to get their hands on the ball as much as possible and control the team around the paddock," Larkham said. "When Bernard's not there, K's been stepping up and doing a fantastic job in training.

"He had a number of involvements that really sparked the attack there. He probably surprised a few people in the way he made decisions in those tight areas of the field."

Larkham said Scotland would be Australia's toughest task in the June Tests and went so far as to say the Wallabies were genuinely "worried" by the threats they posed.

"They've certainly scared us over the last couple of years," Larkham said. "They're a team we're certainly worried about. If you look at their Six Nations form, they've won three out of their five games there against Wales and Ireland in particular. They're a dangerous side. Their defence is really good and they're underrated as an international side, definitely.

"I like what they're doing with their set-piece attack. They've got a really good five-eighth in Finn Russell who controls the game very well."

Larkham conceded Scotland probably deserved to win the last game between the two sides; a fixture in November at Murrayfield where the Aussies triumphed 23-22 thanks to a 75th-minute try to Tevita Kuridrani.

With only 80 minutes of rugby to judge from, Larkham is pleased with how the Wallabies attack is progressing, particularly as they scored all five tries from lineouts against Fiji.

Scotland pride themselves on set-piece and will be looking to roll out plenty of driving mauls near Australia's line.

Wet weather is forecast for Saturday's 3pm kick-off but the Wallabies say they will continue to play with ball in hand.

With Israel Folau back in form following his two-try effort in Melbourne, Larkham said it was nice to see him with a smile on his face again after an indifferent few years on the international scene.

"He [Folau] is enjoying his rugby again," Larkham said. "His body is obviously good. He's in a good mental space and he goes out on the field and he's trying to enjoy his rugby as opposed to being too specific about what he needs to get out of a game."
