Acting Detective Senior Sergeant David Hall said the project is a new initiative lead by the team of investigators at Mount Isa CPIU to proactively engage with youth.
“Sport is one of the most important tools for youth development, sport and exercise is something that none of us should forget about, so it’s great for our team as well to get together,” Senior Sergeant Hall said.
“We work closely with other agencies including Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Department of Youth Justice and Mount Isa PCYC, who have provided a lot of assistance to us.
If any local services would like to be involved, contact Leanne Joseph at Mount Isa PCYC.
“It’s a great way to talk with the youth about education, any issues they face, and to talk about what services are out there if they need help.”
“Sport is just a great way of breaking down barriers, it doesn’t matter who you are, we all have something in common that we can relate to,” Senior Sergeant Hall said.
