The 27 year old, said she was honoured to represent Cloncurry and the dedicated show society.

A grade two to 12 teacher at Cloncurry State School, Ms Vieira was awarded the winning sash at the Cloncurry and District Show festivities on Saturday afternoon.

After moving to Cloncurry, Ms Vieira was advised by locals to get involved in the community and potentially enter as showgirl.

“When I arrived in Cloncurry, multiple school staff said I should enter in the showgirl competition, so I did,” she said.

“When I entered I was a little unsure about what the competition was, but through the process I realised it was about promoting the show and getting involved in the community.”

Both Ms Vieira and 2017 runner up Tegan Northrop underwent three local, official judgings at local events, before participating in the show festivities leading up to the big announcement.

“I really enjoyed the C150 themed fashion show, which both myself and Tegan took part in. 

“I liked that we got to have a bit of fun, wearing different styles of the ages, from the 1800’s to today.”

After looking through the pavilions, Ms Vieira said she would like to become more involved in the show next year.

“I would like to take on the project of judging the baking section,” she said.

“The entries this year looked delicious and I think it was great that a man won the baking section this year.”

Ms Vieira will now go on to compete in the sub-chamber competition against other showgirls from Longreach and Mount Isa. 

All ladies will conducted an interview, luncheon and a informal dinner while being judged on etiquette, presentation, conversation, knowledge about their local show and knowledge about local, state, national and international news and politics.

The winner of the sub-chamber competition will go on to compete at the Royal Queensland Show.
