Gympie woman Sue Chapman was adopted out as a baby all those years ago and never knew who her father was other than he was from Mount Isa.
A few months Sue embarked on a search to find him and enlisted the help of the North West Star.
While our call-out was unsuccessful she eventually tracked down a man in Mackay who had written a book about living in Isa.
His name is Max Streidl and he knew straight away Sue was his daughter.
He and wife Beryl were both from the Isa and he worked at Barkley motors as a apprentice spraypainter and panelbeater when he left school.
Sue said her mother and Max loved each other and were separated by her mother’s aunt. This week they all finally caught up.
“I met my dad Max Streidl and my stepmum Beryl Streidl yesterday for the first time in my life,” Sue said.
“I am overwhelmed with love and excitement and cant stop cuddling my dad.”
