It also provided plenty of memories for those that visited Cloncurry on the train including Stewart and Dorothy Sloan from Toowoomba who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dorothy’s father used to work on steam trains in New South Wales and she grew up on the railways.
“This trip has brought back a lot of memories,” she said.
QR train operating inspector John Broderick said the steam train dates from 1958 and was the last commissioned steam train in Queensland, before being taken over by Queensland Rail Heritage in 1999.

It arrived in Cloncurry on Thursday afternoon with almost 100 passengers on and there were day trips on Friday and Sunday to Marimo.
