Rick Leeman’s birthday present to himself was completing a satisfyingly solitary 100km, which he did in just over 11 hours.
Arriving just after 5am to a majestic green buttercream cake covered in licorice footprints, Rick was thrilled with his personal achievement.
“I was an hour and 15 off (my goal),” Rick said.
Other runners participated in relays with teams of up to 10 people.
The winning team of nine ‘WTF – Where’s the Finish’ came in first place at 2am with a time of 8h 02m.
Nine runners meant they could complete 1km stints each, effectively running every 40 minutes.
Behind them at 8h 30m was Telstra Toads.
In third place was Pokey’s Pals; Chris Pocock, Robbie Katter, Paul Fletcher, and Peter van der Kooij, with a time of 8h 37m.
There were two remaining individuals to finish at 5.30am, after Rick arrived at 5.15am.
Whitehead said participants played games along the way, and gave her some amazing photo opportunities.
