THE Mount Isa Badminton Club held its Great Western Games tournament last weekend in the basketball stadium. Awards were presented by Mount Isa City Councillor Peta MacRae on Sunday.

The A Grade men’s singles was won by Mani Selvaraju. Rowell Dimarucut earned the silver while Dev Vellanikaran won the bronze.
A Grade women’s gold was earned by Savithri Chetty. Silver was presented to Rowena Certifico and bronze was presented to Jillian Lieschke.
Most improved club player was Neihl Tutor. Edouard Hamel was second and Lakshman Navaratnam was third.
In the A Grade men’s doubles it was the duo Mani Selvaraju and Jana Sivaloganathan that won the gold. Silver was won by Dev Vellanikaran and Neihlt Tutor. Bronze was won by Rowell Dimarucut and Naren Ramachandran.
A Grade women’s doubles was won by Rowena Certifico and Nivedita Chetty. Second placers were Savithri Chetty and Kenn Certifico. Bronze was earned by Divya Rajesh and Jillian Lieschke.
Under 17s winners were: Gold; Nichole Tutor. Silver; James Olape. Bronze; Aran Bharathan. Under 13s winners were: Gold; Kane Capuno. Silver; Lexi Dimarucut. Bronze; Lance Dimarucut.
The badminton club play on Wednesdays and Fridays. It offers two free sessions for newcomers.
