Reaching Out Therapy Services has an occupational therapist, a speech pathologist, and a physiotherapist.
The three women have experience working with children with disabilities and complex needs and are all registered as providers with the NDIS.
Occupational Therapist Shannon Goodwin said they will be back in September and November.
“Since the NDIS has come about, some regional services have pulled out of Mount Isa. We’d like to fill that gap and provide services to people who otherwise may not have access,” Ms Goodwin said.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was set up with the intention of providing around 460,000 Australians under the age of 65 with a permanent and significant disability with “the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life”. (www.ndis.gov.au)
This Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 July the therapists are performing home visits, but look forward to securing a physical space in future sessions.
