The score was 12.7.79 to 11.9.75 in favour of The Buffs.
Acting Captain for The Buffs, Lucas Ljubicic, said the game was hard won.
“It was a pretty tough back and forth, we had a few key players missing but the boys sort of lifted themselves, stood up and played outside their normal roles,” he said.
Six players were missing on The Buffs side, including Captain Evan Magnus who suffered a dislocated elbow last weekend.
Standout players were Shane McCarthy, Joel Bradley, Geoff Lane and Shaun Goddard.
In recent years the Buffs have struggled to count on enough players to fill a team for each game.
They now have around 40 player-members, though with shift workers considered it can be a struggle to get 22 players each Saturday.
Finals start mid-August, and Buffs are on track to play.
The team is hoping Magnus will return this weekend for an early game against the Rovers at 12.30pm.
The Bats from Lake Nash had plenty of supporters filling the sidelines, and played a strong game.
The AFL grounds were in great shape on Saturday, sporting a healthy-looking field of green.
