“I thought that was amazing,” event organiser Scott Jones said. “She is a really lovely girl, man she’s just strong.”
During the contest at Stack City Gym on Saturday Danielle Hilton carried 70 kgs for 60 metres, completed about 14 reps of the 35 kg log, completed a deadlift of 120 kgs, and achieved the heaviest overhead press of 40 kgs. It had a two inch bar.
Lee Anderson from Cairns won the open men’s division.
He lifted a 150 kg atlas stone, completed a 121 kg log press three times, deadlifted 280 kg, carried 140 kg in each hand for 20 metres, and carried a 320 kg yoke on his back.
Anderson has been lifting for less than a year. “I just enjoy lifting heavy s—t really. I just enjoy lifting, just the new goals to set for yourself just so you are constantly progressing.”
Jones said 18 competitors competed. Three from Cairns and two from Charleville competed.
