The prime cattle consisted of 118 bullocks, 28 heifers, 698 cows and 70 bulls, while store cattle yarded 521 steers, 336 heifers, zero cows and 97 x 97 cows and calves.

Cattle comprised of limited quality bullocks along with a mixed yarding of cows, which consisted of a small run of well finished cows.

The yarding was drawn from Cloncurry, Georgetown, Mount Isa, Burketown, Hughenden and local and coastal areas.

Prime quotes saw bullocks quoted firm, heifers were 5c dearer and cows were 5-8 c easier on last week’s rates.

Bullocks topped at 274c/kg for Brahman cross bullocks sold on account of B A Hollingsworth, weighing 785kg to return $2152 per head.

Best priced trade heifers, were presented on behalf of Claraville Station P/L, and made 262c/kg to weigh 388kg and return $1018 per head.

The top pen of cows were sold by Pedracini Grazing for 220c/kg and weighed 570kg to return $1255 per head.

Bulls sold on account of A Zabel, topped at 251c/kg and weighed 850kg to return $2135 per head. 

Store cattle were of mixed quality with runs of plain condition cattle from the north and small runs of better quality local cattle. Lighter steers eased by 10c/kg with heavier steers unchanged. Heifers across the board eased by 5- 7c/kg.

A pen of Brahman cross steers on behalf of Francis L Edgerton made 340c/kg and weighed 161kg and realised $547 per head.

A pen of steers on account of Geoff Brown made 286c/kg, weighed 370kg to return $1058 per head.

A good pen Brahman cross heifers on account of Geoff Brown made 282c/kg, weighed 277kg and returned a good average of $783 per head

A pen of heifers on behalf of Claraville Station, made 270c/kg weighed 363kg and returned $981.

94 cows and 94 calves sold on account of Spray Point Pty Ltd returned $1230 per unit.

The next store and prime sale is booked in for Wednesday July 26 with 1474 head, comprising of 844 prime cattle and 630 store cattle.
