There was free microchipping, a sausage sizzle and a petting zoo.
For Paws, Hoofs and Claws president Sue Carson the event was a chance to catch up with pets she once cared for.
“it doesn’t matter how long it has been, they remember me!” she said delightedly, when Billy the Kelpie leaned on her to say hello. It had been three years since the local animal welfare group found him a good home.
Mrs Carson reflected on the success stories, while at the pet day. There was one pomeranian they found known as Pixsy Pom’. The new owners in Sydney called him Winston.
“Winston had a very happy ending after that,” she said.
“It’s beautiful. After all that he got a happy ending.
“The happy endings make it all worthwhile.
“We do have some amazing stories out there which is what keeps me going when I am crying and I think ‘I can’t do this anymore.’”
