The 2017 Quamby Rodeo is on this weekend hosted by the Quamby All Sports Association.
The event attracts big crowds from across the region to the grounds just to the north of the abandoned Quamby pub for what is one of the last of the old-fashioned rodeos with plenty of old-fashioned fun on offer.
Camping is open from Friday afternoon though with local landowners laying baits, visitors should leave their dogs at home.
The action kicks off on Friday night at 7pm with the team roping and the food and bar counter is open from 6.30pm.
Then on Saturday morning the action begins at 7am with the ladies open aged barrel race.
There is also a 13-16 years juvenile barrel race and a 9-12 years junior barrel race.
The breakaway roping commences at 8.30am with the wild cow ride also sure to get the energy levels rising.
Competitors for the gymkhana are asked to assemble in the gymkhana grounds at 9.30am for the start of that competition.
The bronc ride is fast and furious and it begins in the main arena, also at 9.30am.
It will be followed by the calf roping.
There is another wild cow ride at 10.15am and the always popular station buck jump begins at 11am.
That will be followed at noon by the poddy ride.
Lunch is at 12.30pm and the chute dogging opens the afternoon entertainment at 1.30pm.
It will be followed by the bronc ride and the steer wrestling.
At 2.45pm the bull ride gets going, followed by another round of the station buckjump at 3.30pm and the final round of bull riding at 4pm.
That will be followed by the finals in broncs, station buckjump, feature horse, bull ride, feature bull and the wild donkey ride.
However the Quamby All Sports Association says all times are subject to change.
“This is Quamby, expect the unexpected!” they said.
“We're a little biased, but this is the best thing you'll go to all year.”
