A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the man is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The man is accused of misappropriating money collected by the QPS while representing other government agencies.
He was a Sergeant in the police district but resigned in March before disciplinary action was taken.
“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct,” the spokesperson said.
“This does not mean that the allegations against the officers have been substantiated.”
