MICRRH is hosting the two hour event next Tuesday, August 1.
The expo showcases health degrees at James Cook University for students, job seekers and career changers of all ages interested in a health career.
The expo provides information on health careers, studying at university and an opportunity to interact with health professionals and students through hands on fun activities.
MICRRH’s head of education Catrina Felton-Busch said this was the second expo they were hosting after the inaugural careers expo in Mount Isa in October last year.
“This year we are having it in August because it is better timing,” Ms Felton-Busch said.
“It is the time of year when senior students are starting to think about what they might want to do university and we’ve also got the year 10s who are thinking about the subject selection at this time.”
Ms Felton-Busch said that for some of their degrees subject selection was really important.
“It sets them up for when they want to go on to university,” she said.
Beyond students, the expo is targeting the wider community.
“We welcome anyone looking at a career change or possibly thinking about how they might want to get back into uni,” Ms Felton-Busch said.
“It is an opportunity to interact with academics and students from each of our disciplines that are offered at JCU.”
She said there will be stalls and life-support event scenarios set up at the expo using a manikin they can do monitoring on.
“We will be promoting nursing science in particular as a degree we offer here at MICRRH but also the other degrees we offer in our division,” she said.
