The four in order of the ballot, which was drawn Wednesday, are: Jack Neilson, Tim Edgar, Del George and Melinda Punch.
All bar Tim Edgar ran for election in 2016 but were unsuccessful.
The councillor by-election for the Boulia Shire Council will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017.
The vacancy comes after Cr Allan Robinson tendered his resignation at the June 21 meeting of council.
Cr Robinson resigned as he is leaving the district.
Electoral Commission Queensland said the by-election to replace Cr Robinson was compulsory.
The only polling booth will be the Boulia Sports and Aquatic Centre which will operate from 8am to 6pm on election day.
If you want or need to vote early, the pre-poll centre at 18 Herbert St is open from Monday, August 7.
You can also apply for a postal vote until 7pm on August 16.
Cr Robinson affectionately known in the outback as "Bozo” was born and grew up in Townsville until 15 years of age when he started working for his father as an equipment operator tank sinking on various cattle stations in multiple shires.
According to Boulia Shire Council his experiences included owner/operator of his own business, interstate and overseas travel, working in civil construction and mining industry and extensive experience working on the land as manager and contract musterer.
In 2016 Cr Robinson received 100 of the 832 votes for four positions, beating Jack Neilson by eight votes for the final position.
