Giants ruckman Shane Mumford will cop a one-match ban for his high hit on Max Gawn in Saturday's crunching win over Melbourne in Canberra, should he submit an early guilty plea.

Mumford was charged with engaging in rough conduct, the incident assessed by the match review panel as careless and with medium contact to the head. The incident carries a two-match suspension that will be halved should GWS opt not to fight the punishment.
It's opened the door for 206-centimetre giant Dawson Simpson to return in Friday night's clash against the resurgent Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
It was a busy weekend for the MRP, which has also issued suspensions to Geelong duo Tom Hawkins and Mitch Duncan out of Friday's fiery clash with the Sydney Swans, and Essendon's Zac Merrett.
Meanwhile, Giants forward Jonathon Patton trained on Monday and looks set to return from a hamstring complaint against the Bulldogs on Friday.
Patton was a late withdrawal against Melbourne at the weekend with hamstring tightness, but the club said the move was precautionary.
"We were pretty conservative with him, he could've played but we just chose not to," head of football Wayne Campbell said.
"They're really hard the muscle ones because they're not like a broken bone, where you just know you can or you can't. The muscle ones, especially the minor ones are really difficult to judge, you'll never make an error by pulling them out.
"Given we were conservative with him and we ended up winning the game, we think it's a really good decision."
Fellow forward Jeremy Cameron missed the game and will be sidelined for at least two more weeks after reinjuring his hamstring against Fremantle two weekends ago.
