Some sharp eyed travellers found this particular needle in the haystack of the Desert near Big Red Dune, 30km west of Birdsville.
Police were keen to track down the owner of the ring and reunite them with their jewel and posted the ring on social media on Tuesday.
On Tuesday after ABC shared the police post, a New South Wales woman told them it was her wedding ring and she lost it when climbing a dune at the Big Red Bash.
The woman is now waiting on Birdsville police to confirm her ownership, something she expects to happen on Thursday.
The woman told ABC North West Queensland Wednesday morning she was devastating to lose the ring and was thrilled it was now found.
