Brisbanites taking advantage of the Ekka people's day public holiday have created major traffic delays on the Pacific Motorway.

While traffic between Loganholme and Helensvale had eased by 2pm, all southbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway from Robina to Palm Beach were still affected by heavy traffic.
Earlier, traffic was banked up from Loganholme down to Helensvale, and then from Robina to Palm Beach as people headed to the beach, the Australian Traffic Network's Adam Smith said.
"Between Springwood and Helensvale, there are few spots there where it is quite thick, which is very unusual for this time of the afternoon," Mr Smith said.
"Same for the run down to Robina and Palm Beach, it's very heavy down there at the moment which is unlike this time of afternoon, that's usually peak hour traffic."
There were no crashes on the motorway; Mr Smith said traffic was simply heavy because of the public holiday and the warm weather.
"No crashes, looks like it's been like that for the last couple of hours, everyone's just taking advantage of the sunshine and heading down to the beach," he said.
