Mount Isa Councillor Paul Stretton said the emphasis is on the creative at the Great Northern Clean Up sign up this Sunday morning (August 20) at the Mount Isa Shopping Plaza in Abel Smith Parade, Pioneer.
“Mount Isa has many incredibly talented and skilled people able to create remarkable things from items most of us throw in the bin,” Cr Stretton said. “It’s all about helping cut the volume of rubbish that ends up in landfill, our gutters and creeks.
“With a bit of creative thought, we can reduce our impact on the environment.”
The sign on for the clean-up begins from 7am.
“We’d like as many people as possible get along to Pioneer and join this community effort to clean up our city,” Cr Stretton said. “Everyone who signs-on will receive a collection bag, gloves, sunscreen and suggestions for clean-up sites to target.
“We’ll also be running a free sausage sizzle, and presenting participation prizes.”
