The class took place in conjunction with Friends of Urandangie’s Desert Borders art show, featuring local Aboriginal artists.
Aunty Barb teaches painting technique to young and old, holding regular classes with Estelle Cardiff Kindergarten and the Anglicare Elders Art Group every Thursday.
“It’s for the Elders and the young people. It’s just a place where they get together and learn about art,” Barbara said.
“I teach them the basics of art, and doing it real simple,” she said.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk visited the gallery on Saturday morning, and was introduced to Barbara Sam.
Ms Palaszczuk was impressed with the children’s work, and told them so.
Barbara Sam is a talented artist in her own right, having been commissioned to do many paintings over the years in Mount Isa, including at Buchanan Park, TAFE, JCU, and The Supreme Court.
