Cairns Ironman triathlete Elle Goodall shared her story with the nation, appearing on Channel 9’s ‘This Time Next Year’ which aired on Monday night.
The Mount Isa local competed in the Cairns half Ironman in June, after taking up the sport of triathlon to lose nearly 120kg in total.
Elle has inspired countless Aussies with her determination and stickability.
Watching from home, Elle said she was overwhelmed.
“I was so emotional and proud. It was an amazing experience, words can’t even explain how stunning I felt in that dress,” Elle said.
“Obviously I knew what I would look like but seeing it like that, I actually thought, ‘Wow, I look hot!’”

The new series sees everyday Australians achieving big personal goals over the course of 12 months.
In the show participants are interviewed about their goal by host, Karl Stefanovic, only to reappear just moments later, completely transformed 12 months on.
When Elle filmed the first part of her episode one year ago, she had lost some weight and was looking to enter her first triathlon.
Two minutes later Elle reappears instantaneously transformed, with a new hairstyle, a stunning silk gown in aubergine, and several triathlons under her belt.
On her blog, Elle’s Journey to Good Health, Elle shares regular updates with her followers and tips on how to keep up a healthy, active lifestyle.
The determined athlete already has her sights set on the next challenge, a full Iron Man in Busselton in December, three days after Elle’s 30th birthday.
“It's happening, I have set it in, I am determined to hear the words "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN" as I run down that red carpet!”
Training includes the olympic distance triathlon in Noosa this November – no biggie.
Confidence in her coach assures Elle that she is bound to succeed, again.
In fact, Elle is so determined to reach her goal she is leaving Mount Isa for Brisbane in September, to be closer to her coach.
“Training is going to be a lot easier for Iron Man, I can't wait to swim in the sea. And plenty of visits to Noosa I’m thinking,” she said.
But first, a flight to Sydney this weekend to appear on the Weekend Today Show, airing live on Saturday.
Next weekend, Elle will appear twice at Mount Isa Health Expo, speaking at the industry only day on Friday August 25, and to the public on Saturday August 26.
Elle said her ultimate goal is to compete in Ironman Kona in Hawaii.
As our latest interview with Elle came to a close, she left to take a call from ‘The Today Show’ –again, no biggie.
