The deportation of a New Zealand man convicted for his role in the fight that killed teenager Cole Miller would get "him out of our hair", an LNP politician says.

Daniel Jermaine Lee Maxwell, 22, was handed an 18-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of common assault and one count of affray.
He had already spent 19 months behind bars, accused of unlawful striking causing the death of the young water polo player, but on Thursday those charges were downgraded.
Maxwell was taken back into custody following his surprise release, with his visa cancelled.

Maxwell will have 30 days to appeal to Immigration Minister Peter Dutton for his case to be heard by a commissioner.
Shadow Attorney-General Ian Walker said he had spoken with Mr Miller's family about the case.
"Whether she [Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath] appeals or not is a matter for the Attorney-General," Mr Walker said.
"I'd certainly encourage her to look at appealing."
But Mr Walker said it was good news that Maxwell's sentence was long enough for him to be detained ahead of deportation to New Zealand.
"I'd be very glad to see him out of our hair and not have the Queensland taxpayers having to fund him in the prison," he said.
"So I'm glad to see him go."
A spokeswoman for Ms D'Ath confirmed she was considering the Maxwell case.
In a statement released on Thursday, Mr Miller's father, Steven, said his family had waited for due legal process.
"We understand the reasoning behind the 18-month sentence but we are disgusted that a convicted criminal who is now an illegal immigrant is allowed to walk free on our streets of Brisbane," he told Seven News.
In January 2016, Maxwell had asked his friends "do you want to see something funny?" before punching 18-year-old Mr Miller in the chest.
The apprentice barber had already tried to pick three fights that night before spotting Mr Miller and his best friend Nick Pace in Fortitude Valley's Chinatown Mall.
When the younger man refused to fight back, Maxwell turned his attention to Mr Pace before the New Zealander's friend Armstrong Renata punched Mr Miller in the back of his head, knocking him out.
Mr Miller, who played water polo at an elite level and was tipped by some to follow his older brother's path to the Olympic Games, died in hospital two days later.
