Twenty-three children were aboard the bus when it and the ute collided about 8.30am on the Mount Lindsay Highway.
A 31-year-old woman had been at the wheel of the ute, with her two children the passengers.
Paramedics assessed 27 people at the scene.
The mother was airlifted to Princess Alexandra hospital, Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Adrian Tong said.
Her two children sustained minor injuries, and were taken to Beaudesert Hospital by ambulance.
"The driver of the ute sustained a couple of broken arms and some other injuries, probably to do with the impact with the steering wheel," he said.
"None of the children suffered any injuries on the bus," Mr Tong said.
"No doubt they would have been a bit shaken up, there was a fairly big bag at the front of the bus, we talked to all the children though, they were all in good spirits."

Mr Tong said the children, ranging in age from eight to about 13, were taken to school accompanied by a couple of teachers.
The senior operations supervisor said it was lucky there had not been more injuries.
"The bus swerved to the side of the road, managed to pull up, the ute ended up in a ditch," he said.
"The fact that the bus stayed on its wheels saved a number of lives, it could have been a lot worse."
The Mount Lindsay Highway remained closed in both directions as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated.
